Malaysian Sport's Big Fat Greek Tragedy (Final)

Malaysian Sport's final hope rest in the hand of the Cabinet Committee that is been formed to check the rot in Malaysian Sport!

Well, lets hope NST sports editor Lazarus Rokk in his Counterpoint column is right in saying that this is the last hope for Malaysian Sports. Guess we will have to wait and see if that is true.

Frankly, I still don't think anything positive is going to come out 5 to 10 years down the line. As long as they don't revamp the Malaysian Educational System, Malaysian is never going to wake up from this nightmare.

Another aspect that should be look into is the attitude of the Malaysian people. A majority of them only wants to earn money. Anything that can earn them money, they will do it. Only a few sports in Malaysia can earn you big money. Namely soccer and badminton. Irony is, the Malaysian Super League (MSL) still lacks behind their European counterpart the English Premier League(EPL) in terms of quality and performance. Ok, lets not talk about EPL, lets talk about the Japanese soccer league(J-league). Japan only started the J-League several years ago, and the Japanese team is now one of the top soccer team in Asia. While Malaysia is still down there, somewhere. What went wrong with the Malaysian Soccer scene and what went right with the Japanese?

One thing I know is the Japanese fight for Emperor and country. While Malaysian fight for money and fame. That's the real fact in Malaysia that people just don't want to admit it. They just want to save face.

I am no expert in sports. I am just a normal person looking at what is really happening in the Malaysian Sport scene. The fact is like that. But most people choose to ignore it and give out tons of excuses and play the blame game when the going gets rough. This has been happening for years, and nothing was done.

And from the looks of it, the same cycle is going to happen. Unless the Cabinet Committee "dare" to make major changes. Until and unless some major changes are done, Malaysian Sport WILL never get anywhere other than just continue being "Jaguh Kampung".

This is my final piece on the Malaysian Sport Fraternity.
